Evaluation & Post-Test
Suicide affects all ages, gender, race, religion, ethnicity, and socio-economic status and rates of attempts and completions are on the rise. Populations at higher risk for suicide include LGBT, teenagers, specific mental disorders, and more. Clinicians should know the ethical responsibilities, liability, and consequences of a client's ideations, intent, attempt, or completion. In this course, we will also review a recent study from the CDC about suicide deaths broken out by characteristics such as mental health diagnoses, sex, age, race, methods, and more.

Suicide Prevention Training Requirement - "HB 1719 was passed during the 2018 legislative session and signed into law. The bill included language that amended section 337.718.1 RSMo requiring certain health care professionals to complete at least two hours of continuing education in suicide assessment, referral, treatment, and management training, as a condition of initial licensure and subsequent to the renewal of the license. The provision goes into effective August 28, 2018." Missouri Division of Professional Registration
