Suicide impacts all ages, gender, race, religion, ethnicity, and socio-economic status meaning clinicians will work with suicidal clients in all settings. Motivational Interviewing is a person-centered counseling style that has shown effectiveness with client change and specifically addresses ambivalence, which is a common experience of clients with suicidal ideations. This course will review the fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing and teach participants how to approach assessment, management, treatment, and referral of suicidal clients utilizing Motivational Interviewing strategies and skills.
